Kohler Brings Change With Water

“Business success doesn’t matter much if we can’t say we left the world a better place than we found it.” David Kohler.

Water is at the heart of all we do at Kohler. Our products. Our company. Our customers’ lives and our own. Safe water is critical to daily life, and the fact that one-third of the world’s population lives without it is unacceptable. The ongoing global pandemic has revealed just how essential safe water is, not only for drinking but for hand washing and healthy hygiene.

The numbers can be overwhelming

2.1 billion people without safe water, 4.2 billion people without safe sanitation, and 3 billion people without access to basic hand washing at home. But change is happening. And at Kohler, we’re taking action.

Our flagship initiative, Safe Water for All, combines Kohler associate passion and our company’s strength and expertise to address this dire global need. Our product and engineering innovation paired with boots-on-the-ground humanitarian networks and the support of people have helped bring safe water to hundreds of thousands of individuals. Together, we are believing in better and working to keep safe water flowing.

At Kohler Africa we are using our brand and partnership with Manchester United as a platform to continue to raise awareness of Safe Water For All, an initiative to further address pressing issues around water access, quality, and conservation, and broaden public awareness around water issues.

Safe Water For All is our commitment to address the water and sanitation crisis that continues to impact far too many people around the world.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus many of the troubling safe water issues we already know about but fail to adequately address. To bring positive, lasting change, businesses must focus on challenges they can solve most effectively, and for Kohler Africa, this means water. With our deep expertise in water and sanitation, Kohler is working with partners to actively develop and provide solutions for these many complex issues.

Kohler will continue its partnerships with leading non-profit and humanitarian organizations like Water Mission and World Vision, to install solutions developed by the Innovation for Good teams like low flow pour-flush toilets and gravity water filters in underserved areas around the world. Most recently, the organizations partnered on a project in Jhagadia, India, to provide the community’s 462 residents with clean water through the implementation of a Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) System.

The drive to provide water filters falls under Kohler’s Global Stewardship’s Run for Clarity initiative, where 5,000 Kohler associates and their families globally clocked in a cumulative distance of 40,075 km, further to which the company donated one Clarity Water Filter for every 5 kilometer-run by a Kohler associate or their family members.

Kohler is extending its commitment to providing access to safe water and sanitation by activating its associates through KOHLER Run for Safe Water, a month-long virtual run-walk challenge to raise awareness of the issues and funds to support local charities. In the area of product design and innovation, Kohler continues to champion water efficiency and was recently named a 2020 Sustained Excellence winner by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), marking the 11th time the company has won a Water Sense award.
